The Killers played a show in Toronto last night promoting the release of their third studio album “Day & Age.” The show was truly exceptional due to a list of factors topped by the existence of frontman Brandon Flowers.
The set seemed to be a cheeky response to Las Vegas glamour with blatantly fake palm trees scattered around the stage, even more blatantly fake palm trees made of shiny plastic, a piano painted with an elementary drawing of the solar system and a centerpiece of a large K made out of light-bulbs.
Brandon Flowers was born to be a front man. All the other members of the band remained in their stage corners for the show while Flowers moved between his keyboard, piano and standing mic, interpretive dancing his way through impeccable lyrics.
Flowers came out singing “Spaceman” from their new album in skintight black pants, a black dress shirt, black vest, black blazer detailed with feathers coming off the shoulders (pictured up top) and intimidating army boots that climbed up to his shins.
Flowers is a beautiful man. He came out and one could not help but aspire to be more like him. You stand there in awe wishing your pants were as tight as his, wishing your outfit was as well chosen, wishing you could write lyrics so desperate, for this night you even wished you were a few inches shorter just to be more like Brandon.
Highlights of the show included “Neon Tiger” which was accompanied by a massive backdrop of black and white tiger print that spanned the length of the stage, which was removed as the song ended. “All These Things That I’ve Done” provided a pure moment of the entire crowd singing “I’ve got soul, but I’m not a soldier” while Flowers bowed his head away from the microphone. The encore ended with “When You Were Young” and a sincere thank you from the band for coming out to “celebrate together”.
It was an amazing show and The Killers are definitely a band worth seeing. Here’s some goodies for you below.
