I was having a talk with a Toronto artist this week about the current state of rap. He was telling me about how he was growing out of rap and his listening time was being delegated outside the genre. “I still listen to the fundamentals like Wu Tang” he specified. After years in rap, Wu Tang still manages to keep the respect of their fan base and turn down the prospect of a commercial shift.
