Hey clmns,

Thanks for the kind words. I have to say I completely understand your feelings of the disco/80s synth sound and I am a huge fan of it (I'm guessing your talking about the sound some of my favorites like Futurecop! and Treasure Fingers).

I guess I'm just excited to see the big changes that have been going on in dubstep to bring in more vocals and playing with different sounds more.

P.S. Your comment about the decline of drug usage made me realize there should be a graph showing the relationship between the decline of ecstasy usage and the need for vocals in songs.

as an electro-centric dj who started dj'ing actively about 3 years ago, i wonder that same thing, and i would tend to go for the disco / 80ies synth direction. sure dubstep is growing, but i don't think it's the same demographic. electro cut deep into the techno/house worn-out hipster demographic who may have been worn out/bored by up and coming berlin/minimal music (it might have to do with a decline of ectasy usage). that said electro will still give a party a late night edge, but thats when people start to focus on beats anyways and care less about 'music'.
great blog btw, keep it up!
