I’m not gonna lie. When I first posted about The Big Pink I did not expect to talk about them again. Don’t get me wrong, the song I posted (their first single “Velvet”) was really good but I can’t say anthemic rock music is really what I’m into right now.

I probably would have never come back to them if it wasn’t for the insane outpouring of hype as a result of their newest song. The band is currently giving away their newest single “Dominoes” (off their upcoming album A Brief History Of Love dropping September 14th) on their website and I had to take a listen.

I was pleasantly surprised that they were able to not only match the epicness of “Velvet” but, I think, surpass it. I still stick to my description of their music as sounding “like something that M83, Oasis, and …And You Will Know Us By the Trial of Dead would make if they were all locked in a room for a weekend watching movies from the 90s.”

The song tells the story of a promiscuous man and his trials and tribulations with women. With lines like “As soon as I love her it’s been too long/ and I really loved breaking your heart” and a chorus of “These girls fall like domino’s domino’s!”, many men (especially a few of my friends) should be able to identify. Cop it.
