It is with great astonishment that I write this post. It’s stunning that in over a year of writing on this blog, that I have never mentioned CFCF. We’re usually all over Canadian artists, especially one just a few hours away in the great city of Montreal.

With their latest remix of HEALTH’s “Before Tigers”, they reminded me of all that is great about CFCF. This is that easy-breezy tune that’s perfect for the end of the summer. Where CFCF always succeeds is their ability to create wonderful atmospherics in their songs. This is done not only with calming light washes of sound in the background but also by manipulating the vocals and playing with the reverb of a normally harsh sounding hand clap.

If there’s one bad thing you could say about the song is that it never gets going but that’s precisely why you should enjoy it. Like an afternoon spent under a tree people-watching, it’s a relaxing cure-all to a an increasingly hectic time of the year.

BONUS: This a bonus you MUST check out. Two of my other favorite tunes by CFCF including a remix of 90s smash hit “How Bizarre” by OMC and a cheery remix of Justice’s uber-famous “D.A.N.C.E.”. After a self-imposed moratorium on the original song that has lasted for over a year (it was played everywhere all the time), this remix still stands strong.
