This blog has come a long way in a short time. We started it so we could communicate with our fans and show them who we are and what we’re about. The reaction has been really amazing and with the growing popularity we’ve been fortunate enough to have some really talented people send us music, art, and clothing. Using the blog to break upcoming artists was never the original purpose of all this, but the quality of the stuff we’re sent is so good it would be criminal to keep to oneself.

Thus is the case with I Am Noxious. He sent us a bit of a cryptic e-mail with possibly the best line to pique our interest, “I Am Noxious … You like stuff that I like … So maybe you’d like me too …”. That’s enough to get me to check out an artist. Upon landing on his MySpace, I saw that his influences included The Sound of Arrows (Yes), VISITOR (Yes), and Nick Drake (Yes!… anyone with Nick Drake as their top friend immediately becomes rad… little known MySpace fact). I hadn’t even listened to the music at this point and already was pretty convinced I would like it. Ultimately, I was right.

I Am Noxious writes pop love songs with new-wave & folk influences, and somehow makes it all work. His standout tune is definitely “Left & Right”. It has silky smooth vocals and some really clever lyrics. The whole song only uses four lines of writing but when it’s good writing that’s all you need. The repetition of them throughout the song only emphasizes their simple power.

After DJing for so long, it’s nice to hear some thoughtful words actually contributing to the song instead of being used for filler. Like the aforementioned e-mail foretold, I Am Noxious is able to say a lot with a little. Listen to the song and remember the name.
