Flight of The Conchords will be no more. Bret and Jemaine made a statement on the FOTC website that they will not return for a third season of their HBO show after two exceptional seasons and albums. Here’s their statement:
“We’ve noticed the less we say about the future of the show, the more people want to talk about it, so in an effort to reverse this trend we are today announcing that we won’t be returning for a third season,” the statement reads. “We’re very proud of the two seasons we made and we like the way the show ended.”
There’s two positive elements to this devastation. Firstly, the duo confirms “While the characters Bret and Jemaine will no longer be around, the real Bret and Jemaine will continue to exist.” Second, director Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite, Nacho Libre) has a new movie called Gentlemen Broncos coming out in 2010 staring Jemaine.
Don’t cry. Instead, watch this trailer.
