There’s a lot of talk about digitizing magazines and newspapers. It’s an inevitable step as paper is old news. One of the first concepts moving in this direction is the MAG+ from BERG. The concept seems like something spawned from Apple’s multi-touch and overlaps with a lot of speculation regarding Apple’s rumored tablet.
The BERG MAG+ takes reading magazines to a new level with the integration of video and constantly updating content. You can check out a video with more details on how it works as well as a digital copy of Sports Illustrated in the rest of the story.
There’s more to ACNE than meets the eye it seems. To start, the Swedish brand’s name actually stands for Ambition to Create Novel Expressions. ACNE Studios is legitimately a lifestyle brand that goes beyond fashion. They also venture into films, furniture design, architecture and their own publication. Intrigued?
Cool Hunting looked into the company further and reveals some of the details of the brand as well as the direction they’re headed. Check out their NY Retail Space as well as an interview with ACNE’s creative director here.
These might be the closest thing to perfect winter boots (or Fall boots, depending on what city you’re living in). They’ve got some super technical details, water resistant leather and a deerskin tongue. It’s nice to a see a compromise from the suede “winter boot” that will get wrecked in water, but an aesthetic departure from those Sorels you’re considering.
Check Blackbird for purchase and some more details.
New Balance is one of my favourite sneaker brands simply because of their quality. They’re just exceptional shoes for sports and they’re super comfortable on a day to day. Luckily, it’s also a non-lame alternative to being one of those dudes wearing x-country runners regardless of what the rest of their body had in mind to wear that day.
When indulging in a pair of New Balance sneaks, the simple (arguably senior citizen) designs seem to do the most justice to the shoes. Oshman’s and Mita Sneakers teamed up with New Balance on the above 1500 model, which is a great colourway on the classic. They’re suede, blue and gold; three of the best things to be these days.
Just in time for the weekend, I recorded a new mix of the club tracks I’m feeling at the moment. It’s good. I promise.
Includes music by Diplo, Nu Ravers on the Block, A1 Bassline, Black Noise, Crookers, Douster, Dada Life, Mustard Pimp, and even some Will Smith and Journey. Play it to get the party rowdy.

Here at Handsome we like to give credit where credits due. Built on quality and attention to detail, NY-based t-shirt brand CXXVI stays true to the trade with their individually hand numbered shirts made of soft 100% combed cotton. This allows founders Matt Gorton and Jon Contino to be apart of each product that leaves their shop, while in turn blurring the line between the artist, and those who wear their art.
I normally don’t like covers of songs that are near and dear to my heart. That may be weird coming from a person who loves remixes so much, but it’s true. Most covers miss the essence of the song entirely and become a cheap way for a band to abuse a familiar hook or latch on to another bands success.
This is not the case with the songs below. After hearing dozens of covers of The Cure’s “Close To Me”, I was beginning to think it was impossible to re-interpret such a perfect song. Well a band called WHY? from Cincinnati has proved me wrong. It’s important to note they only hint at the famous original melody rather than rely on it. They have also added some warm and fuzzy guitar feedback and a plodding beat reminiscent of Electric President‘s sound. A cloudy day song.
The other cover I have been playing a lot is Hidden Cat‘s version of Bag Raiders‘ “Shooting Stars”. Hidden Cat has taken the original, slowed it down to dream-wave speed, and added plenty of synth washes to make it the perfect soundtrack for a nap on a warm beach. It’s a seven minute adventure of blurry eyes and the warm sun.

Quentin Tarantino, arguably the best director still making movies, gives us his perspective on the top 8 movies of 2009. Although, I can’t agree with Observe & Report, Tarantino picks out some phenomenal films from this year. This video is perfect for those nights you just can’t think of what movie to watch.
