Review: The Temper Trap – Conditions

Sunday, February 21, 2010

In an interview with Dougie Mandagi, lead singer of The Temper Trap, he outlined Radiohead, Prince, Massive Attack and U2 as the key influences in the band’s recording of Conditions, their first LP. That’s a pretty accurate idea of what to expect sound-wise when listening to the record. They seem to take some of the great attributes of those artists, and mesh them together for their distinct Australian-spawned sound. U2-esque riffs, Prince’s summer day pop songs and Radioheads’ eerie instrumental come together to create Conditions.

After hearing their track Sweet Disposition for the first time in (500) Days of Summer, the band impresses with a wide range of style on their first full length. Standout tracks include Sweet Disposition, Love Lost and Down River.
