New Tokyo Police Club “Breakneck Speed”

Tuesday, March 30, 2010

We love supporting local Toronto acts so it is with great pleasure we share with you the new single from Tokyo Police Club. I should mention the band says their from Toronto but Wikipedia claims they are from Newmarket. Having visited Newmarket in the past I know why they would try to hide this and claim allegiance to TO.

We were lucky enough to attend a University just outside of Toronto where one of the clubs would get TPC to play at least 2 times a year. We would regularly make it out to catch their shows (if you’re reading this Tokyo Police Club, I apologize for getting in a fight during one of your sets in Kingston).

With “Breakneck Speed” they reveal a more matured sound (which is only natural considering they released their first EP when they looked like they were 13) and, despite the name of the song, have slowed down a little. The song is dangerously radio friendly so if you live in Toronto expect this to be played on The Edge 102.1 a whole hell of a lot this summer. If your wondering what Tokyo Police Club have been up to since their breakout album “A Lesson in Crime” be sure to check out the video below. Their new album “Champ” will be coming out in the spring of 2010.
