In this month’s edition of Interview Magazine, there’s an exceptional interview with David Blaine by Adam Kimmel.The close friends go over some of Blaine’s performances and the thought process behind them. These include swimming with great white sharks in the middle of the ocean, being enveloped in a block of ice and being buried alive.

It’s one of the most intriguing and multifaceted interview I’ve come across in a while. There’s an excerpt below and Interview Magazine also has it available in full online.

BLAINE: Neither. They’re wild animals and can do anything. But I made a rule with everyone on the trip. The rule was that no matter what the shark does, we couldn’t hurt it. So if it did decide to grab me or take me under the ocean, we weren’t allowed to hurt the animal, because we were going into his territory.
