Below is Kid Cudi‘s first single off his sophmore album Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager due out September 14. The title, pronounced Rev of Ev, short for Revolution of Evolution, features the likes of long time Cudi collaborator Plain Pat on production. It has a similar sound to the opening track of HBO’s How to Make it in America (I Need a Dollar from singer Aloe Blacc) which features, on occasion, the Moon Man himself. Whatever the case, another solid track in our books, let us know what you think.

If you are into timepieces and outer space, we came across something interesting that involves both. The Omega Speedster is a watch used by a few of the first American astronauts on Apollo missions, which was a trend started by Edward Higgins White II. Ed White wore the piece on a spacewalk during the Gemini IV Mission, which is pictured above.
Omega says that they didn’t even know that astronauts were using the Speedmaster watch until they saw a picture of Ed White on the cover of Life Magazine wearing the piece over his space suit. You can see the original watch ahead, which was sold at an auction for $34,500.

In anticipation of the DVD release of BBC’s show, The Genius of Design, the first two episodes were available in full to watch online. It has been getting a lot of attention on blogs, but some might pass on a sixty minute Vimeo session.
It’s worth checking out – the episodes do a great job at outlining the beauty that lies in ergonomics and functional design in our everyday lives.
You can get your hands on the DVD through bbcshop.com

The good people at Need Supply Co. have recently blessed the blogosphere with a brief history lesson on Ray Ban’s classic and timeless Wayfarer. With countless copycats running amuck, its good to know there’s still love to be given to one of the grandfathers of cool.
VIA Need Supply Co.
“Since it’s creation in 1952, the shape of Ray-Ban’s Wayfarer has become an icon by itself. You can find it’s impostors hidden in the seas of other impostors. But when it comes to timeless style and design, the Wayfarer is a piece of fashion and history that transcends any fad.”

I recently had the pleasure of seeing Texas based band Neon Indian in a relatively small and personal venue in Southern California. The ‘home-made’ ’80s-referencing sound’ echoing from the group, whose members could have starred alongside Lewis and Gilbert in Revenge of the Nerds, fit right in with the sun-baked coastal crowd. After a brief delay, lead singer Alan Palomo, also known as VEGA, took the stage along with Ronald Gierhart (guitar, vocals), Jason Faries (drums), and Leanne Macomber (keyboard), and began with a personal favorite, Terminally Chill. The Dream-beat, chillwave, glo-fi, hypnagogic pop, (what ever your label) set was a non-stop energetic show / dance party, or as my eloquent girlfriend puts it, ‘the club was poopin.’ If Neon Indian has a future show within driving distance, DON’T miss out.
BONUS:
I want to give a bit of love to Brooklyn based duo Class Actress, whose harmonic and dreamy sounds filled the venue while opening up for Neon Indian. Their first EP, Journey of Ardency, can make your hot summer a little more bearable.

We wanted to spread some positive music for you and at the moment there is no better new artist to fulfill this goal than California’s Vital. Not only is his music inspiring, but his story is also encouraging (check it out after the jump). Some may think his earnest sound veers into sappy territory, but we believe music is meant to be to convey emotions and this is sure to connect with some people out in the world. If we can aid in this connection between people and music/positive-emotions, then we have done our job.
Below are two of our favorite songs, and if you like what you’re hearing you must go to his official page and download the entire album for free.

While on the road this year, Caribou has been selling a tour-only mix, and naturally it has found its way into the internet abyss. Nevertheless, you won’t find anyone around here complaining- it’s stellar. The mixtape is a perfectly timed follow-up to Swim, proving the band’s worth in progression. The wide range of sounds Caribou is able to produce is stunning. “Cellophane” brings me back to the band’s Andorra days, and perhaps reveals what we’ll be hearing from Caribou in the future.

CSLSX, the super secretive band from Philadelphia (that’s pretty much all we know about them) released a new remix onto the interwebs last night.
They have impressed us once again with their lush, sprawling, and more electrofused interpretation of Light Pollutions “Good Feelings”. It’s nearly six and a half minutes of sweeping synths, fresh beats, and soft mellifluous female vocals (as opposed to the originals male vox) weaving their way in and out. Dreamwavey greatness.

Remember Visitor? They captured everyone’s ears and hearts when their song “Los Feeling” hit the internet last year, instantly making people all over the world fall in love with their giant electro-stadium-pop sound. We we’re smart enough to catch on to them early, and for that, we’re lucky enough to receive this club edit of ‘Love’, which is the b-side to their forthcoming debut release, ‘Los Feeling’. It will be out on Vulture on the 21st of June so be sure to mark the date.
Like their past work, ‘Love’ is uplifting, anthemic, high drama, and very well produced. We’re such fanboys of Visitor it’s almost hard to describe without gushing about every aspect, but it’s fair to say that it’s going to be getting a lot of play from us. Also, since it is a club edit, DJ’s would be wise to put this in their arsenal if they want to make the whole dancefloor smile and reach for the the disco/electronic gods.

We’re on top of everything the delightful Spaniards Delorean produce. Yes, it all sounds very similar but when you’re able to capture the sound of youth, sunshine, parties, and energy so well, why would you do anything different? Enjoy their latest remix of Cold Cave‘s “Life Magazine”.
Gotta love those yelps that come in at the 4:32 mark.
