You may remember the name Star Slinger from a popular post we made awhile ago, or Pitchfork’s “Rising” profile, or the mix he did for Dazed & Confused Magazine, or one of the million other blogs that seemed to collectively lose their minds when they heard Darren’s beats for the first time (including the tastemaking Gorilla VS. Bear).

After connecting over a mutual appreciation of each others work, Star Slinger (Darren) was kind enough to make this amazing mix for us. We’re very excited to share it with you as we think that Star Slinger is on a shortlist of musical artists worth paying attention to right now. With this mix you can expect more of the high quality sample heavy headey/spacey glitch-hop that SS has become known for. Oh, and K-Ci & JoJo, which means that anyone with a heartbeat during the 90s will love this.

“I compiled this mix for the guys over at HANDSOME CLOTHING. Super fly creators of apparel from Toronto. I really enjoyed picking a selection of my current favourites regardless of when they came out. I believe this selection is a Handsome bunch. I’ve also thrown in some audio recordings of deliberately wack pick-up lines contributed by my friends Pandit (Lefse Records), Mubarik Adams (Emay) & Rachel Levy (Kiss Kiss Fantastic). They recorded them for a new song I’m making called Recliner but I could not resist throwing them in the mix here. Hope you guys can dig it. xoxo, ss.”
