One of the first things Kid Cudi said to the crowd when he took the Toronto stage is that for all of those who have been to a Cudi show before, forget what you know because this is going to be a totally new experience. Having seen the man before, this was a truth and the man absolutely blew us away at his headline show. Chip Tha Ripper opened up the show getting the crowd riled up with his own tracks, crowd participation tutorials and epic samples from Chronic 2001.
From the moment Kid Cudi took the stage to belt out Rev of Ev it was clear he was going to dominate the show. His voice sounded amazing, combined with his energy, his tracks were pure enjoyment. His singing was impeccable, raps were articulate, energy and was high and his love for the crowd was abundant. Cudi as the evening’s maestro, let the crowd in on the plan for the evening. He would lead us through tracks from Man on the Moon, Man on the Moon Pt. II and then take it back to the mixtapes for his long-term fans.
Scott Mescudi was solid from start to finish playing all of our favourites including Soundtrack 2 My Life, Solo Dolo, Cudi Zone, and The Prayer. Chip Tha Ripper joined the Kido on stage for a Cleavland reunion where they played some bonus material including All Talk, Hyyerr, and Ask About Me. Cudi also offered something new to the crowd creating an improvised track with his drummer, guitarist and Dot Da Genius on keys. The crowd was thoroughly satisfied by the set and left happy as Cudi took the energy even higher with a non-stop medley of Cudi Zone, Memories, and Day N Night. Fans followed Cudi’s guidance of “keeping the party in mind” having a great time from the start of the set all the way through to an exceptional closing with Pursuit of Happiness.
If you have a chance to make your way out to The Cud Life tour in your city, don’t hesitate.
