We came across Erica Weiner Jewelry this week and were happy to see some creative pieces combined with a socially responsible company based out of New York City. The line focuses in on craftsmanship and affordability (you won’t find a piece over $100), enabled by a team of well taken care of friends.

One of our favourite pieces is the Penknife Necklace, which features an operational one inch penknife as a pendant on a thin twenty four inch brass chain. You can check out the fine details including brass rivets and a tiny notch for opening the knife with your fingernail.

Aside from the vintage inspired pieces, we were especially drawn to the company in one line off their site. “Thanks for supporting us–you’ve given us the freedom to sustain ourselves financially and creatively.”

In Surface 2 Air’s ongoing jewelery collection, we recently came across the Silver Pearl Medal of Honor Necklace, which makes for an interesting piece using a variety of finishes and materials. The chain and pendants combine silver, oxidized silver and a little pearl for a nice piece for girls or boys.

One of our previous favourites, the Three Finger C ring, is now available in gold (pictured ahead). We especially like the C ring as it’s a more comfortable option than the open three finger ring.

If you are into timepieces and outer space, we came across something interesting that involves both. The Omega Speedster is a watch used by a few of the first American astronauts on Apollo missions, which was a trend started by Edward Higgins White II. Ed White wore the piece on a spacewalk during the Gemini IV Mission, which is pictured above.

Omega says that they didn’t even know that astronauts were using the Speedmaster watch until they saw a picture of Ed White on the cover of Life Magazine wearing the piece over his space suit. You can see the original watch ahead, which was sold at an auction for $34,500.

The good people at Need Supply Co. have recently blessed the blogosphere with a brief history lesson on Ray Ban’s classic and timeless Wayfarer. With countless copycats running amuck, its good to know there’s still love to be given to one of the grandfathers of cool.

It’s one of the most exceptional accessories we’ve come across this season and all six pieces are impressive.

Seattle-based hunting brand, Filson, has been making its way into exceptional fashion retailers around the world. With a history of quality and functionality, the brand known for rifle holders and hunting weekends is now being paired with tailored pants and Common Projects.

Among their exceptional pieces is the Duffle Bag, which serves as a great weekend bag. It’s made of an oil treated, water resistant canvas and vegetable tanned leather straps. Keeping with it’s heritage over aesthetics approach, the bag skipped over black and is available in brown, otter green, and tan.

HNDSM has been working on several new things for the coming season, and among them are a new concept series and a jewelry line. Here’s a little preview of a necklace to come. We’ll keep you posted with some more shots of new designs.

Oliver Peoples recently announced their Original Vintage Circa 1987 Collection. Founder, Larry Leight, went into the archives and dug up nine iconic frames partnered with vintage-tinted lenses in Sky Blue, Green, Rose Brown and Spearmint from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. The frames are available at Oliver Peoples’ Boutiques and select optical stores worldwide.
