The trailer for Wes Anderson’s newest film, Moonrise Kingdom, was just released. We love Wes Anderson films here at Handsome and after watching this trailer, it looks like we can expect more awesome from the man. His taste in cinematography, actors, music, stories, and even typography is always impeccable.

Set on an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, Moonrise Kingdom tells the story of two twelve-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to hunt them down, a violent storm is brewing off-shore — and the peaceful island community is turned upside down in more ways than anyone can handle. Bruce Willis plays the local sheriff. Edward Norton is a Khaki Scout troop leader. Bill Murray and Frances McDormand portray the young girl’s parents. The cast also includes Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, and Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward as the boy and girl.

We’re already unhealthily excited for this.

Taking inspiration from the group’s sound and vision, we have designed two unique designs to commemorate this exciting new time. It’s an honor to be the exclusive retailer of all official Young Empires wares and it’s been a dream come true to work with such an upstanding group of talented gentleman from our hometown of Toronto. We couldn’t be happier with the results.

We’ve loved Peter Miles for years without knowing it. How so? Well, the man has made so much of the design work we admire without us ever knowing who was behind it all. Unfortunately, graphic designers don’t get enough attention outside of their own little circles.

Here is just a sampling of his work: the film graphics for all of Sofia Coppola’s films (including Lost In Translation, Marie Antoinette and Somewhere), Marc Jacobs recent advertising campaigns, books for the German powerhouse publisher Steidl, the brooklyn based independent art magazine The Journal, and our recent favorite, the new identity for French fashion label Céline.
