“We wanted the ‘Down by the Water’ video to directly reflect the song itself, and be as simple as possible. Both the video and song are a tribute to the girl groups of the 50’s and 60’s, a great inspiration to the band and one of the reasons we started it.”
This past Thursday Handsome had the chance to catch Brazilian dj/producer duo The Twelves do a set on their first stop of their US tour. Their set included a lot of classic electro/disco/bloghouse (Empire of the Sun, Daft Punk, older MIA remixes, etc.) to get the crowd into a dancing frenzy. Of course they did this all with that Twelves touch of seamless mixing and pumped up drum patterns. It got so hot in that place they had to brake out a fan to cool their gear down (sign of good party).
Watch the video we made of the night above to get a feel for what you’re missing out on if you haven’t been lucky enough to catch them yet.
Leave it to Neon Gold to introduce us to the next big thing in pop music. The Naked & Famous hail from New Zealand and make youth filled music covering similar territory as Passion Pit.
The video produced by Special Problems reinforces the light and dreamy sounds of adolescence in “Young Blood”.

This trailer for The Social Network, a film about the founders of the social-networking website, Facebook, was released recently and it has piqued our interest. As the titles catch-line (“You don’t get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies”) suggests, this movie focuses on the more nefarious behind-the-scenes turmoil of the company.
OVERWERK is the new side-project of Edmond Huszar (1/2 of The Girls Can Hear Us!). The above video of well edited 2001: A Space Odyssey clips shows that massive sounds are ahead.
Ryan McGinley has put together some super cool short films including a recent series entitled Entrance Romance. The series was shot with a Phantom camera, capturing over 1000 frames per second. Check out Entrance Romance for model Carolyn Murphy combined with some super slow motion water, fire and dogs.
Here’s an interview with Murphy on the making of the film.
In anticipation of the DVD release of BBC’s show, The Genius of Design, the first two episodes were available in full to watch online. It has been getting a lot of attention on blogs, but some might pass on a sixty minute Vimeo session.
It’s worth checking out – the episodes do a great job at outlining the beauty that lies in ergonomics and functional design in our everyday lives.

This Golden Axe video and song combo is a force to be reckoned with. Anyone cognizant in 1989 should know the name Golden Axe as it was one of the best video games released for the SEGA Genesis (and possibly all of time).
In case you didn’t already know, RECORD CLUB is an informal meeting of various musicians to record an album in a day. Nothing is rehearsed or arranged ahead of time. The project boasts quite a hefty list of veteran contributors (Feist, Jeff Tweedy, Devendra Banhart, Jamie Lidell). This is a blithe switch up of “Mediate” by INXS. Ultimately, I guess it shows that Beck will never stop making music. Only time will prove whether or not that’s a good thing.
French electro mavens BeatauCue are getting ready to release their first full length EP on Kitsuné on May 24th titled Cha Cha Cha. The EP is composed of three originals and four remixes for the Cha Cha Cha EP release, and all of them are fire. Below is a minimix of all the tracks included in the EP. Remixers featured on the release include Handsome favorites Sharkslayer and Daniel Haaksman as well. I don’t know what song is at the end of this thing but its killer.
